The reason is simple: instead of an off-the-shelf shower tray, the wet zone is the floor, and that floor has to be waterproofed, fall correctly to drain, take tile bond and survive thermal cycles for decades. • Linear or point drain — installation tied to the soil run, with the floor falls set to the drain in every direction of flow.
• Full tanking — primer, liquid or sheet membrane, taped internal corners, bond-breaker treatment at the drain flange, perimeter seal up to splash height.
